Olympus unveils the E-30, the latest addition to their E dSLR series, filling the gap between the E-3 and the E-400 / E-500 series. The new E-30 features a High-Speed Imager AF for Live View shooting, and a dual-axis variable-angle LCD monitor. Furthermore the new model is equipped with a newly developed 12.3-megapixel high-speed Live MOS Sensor, new TruePic III+ image processing engine, and an image stabilization system. Just Posted! Canon EOS 50D in-depth review. Canon’s EOS 50D is essentially a 40D body with a newly-developed 15 megapixel sensor, a 3.0 inch VGA screen and Canon’s updated imaging processor, the DIGIC 4. Canon claims the new sensor’s design (new manufacturing processes, redesigned photo diodes and micro lenses) means that despite the higher resolution image noise has improved. Click HERE
Starting with our working PSD file we first look at duplicating the image before any resizing for print or web use. We then look at how we can apply selective sharpen to the areas of the image we want to make stand out. This works on a range of images, from Portraits and Landscape to still life.
Canon releases firmware update version1.0.3 for the EOS 50D digital SLR camera. The update incorporates the following fixes:
• Corrects a phenomenon in which an image becomes overexposed.
• Corrects a rare phenomenon in which “busy” blinks on the display panel and the shutter cannot be released due to timing of battery installation.

10/24/2008 Photographer Judi P. Bailey of Raleigh, NC, has won Second Place for September in the prestigious photography contest sponsored by BetterPhoto.com, the site’s founder, Jim Miotke, announced Friday.
More than 21700 entries were submitted to the online photography contest, which attracted contestants from around the world and featured 10 separate categories.
Bailey’s stunning image, “‘Sisters’”, garnered top honors after being submitted in the Digital Darkroom category.
Adobe has released updates to its Camera Raw Plug-in for Photoshop CS4 and Lightroom 2. Camera Raw 5.1 provides raw support to the 15 cameras that were included in the 4.6 update for CS3 users. Lightroom 2.1 has now been released officially, improving Photoshop integration and keyword migration from Lightroom.
