White Balance Camera Raw  This tutorial comes from a question asked by one of our members regarding ‘problems with colours’ Donald was kind enough to send me this image as a raw file. It was taking using a flash but he had also been mistakenly set at a high ISO resulting in noise – glad I’m not the only one to forget to reset the ISO:)


In this video we take a look at retouch a portrait. Starting with brightening the image we then look at softening the skin, removing blemishes before airbrushing. We also look at adding more colour to the eyes - brightening the shadow areas – reducing some of the colours – finishing with  a high-key vignette


Restoring a scanned print – When you scan photographs onto your computer it’s surprising how different they appear. You start to notice the grain and other imperfections, possibly because you were used to viewing it at 6×4 or 7×5  as a print and now all of a sudden there it is large on your screen.

Portrait Toned I have been interested in this style of toning for a while.  So when a member of my web site contacted me with with a link to some images with similar style toning, I thought it would be worth producing a video with my interpretation of this style.

Portrait makeover/retouching - In this set of 5 videos (over an hour runtime)  we take a look at how we can retouch our portrait images. The main goal is to keep the portrait realistic and avoid an artificial looking image. Some of the changes are very subtle with adjustments being made as we progress through the portrait.

Toned and Darken style image. In this video we take a look at how we can transform an image taken in daylight into a toned and darken style image. The image is completely adjustable on all layers allowing you to change the tones and lighting at any time.

Grungy Text Montage.   In this video we look at how we can transform an image by adding texture, toning and text effects to the image. We first look at applying the texture layer and toning the image. We then look at different ways in which we can achieve the Matrix text style and using an image to create a unique text effect brush

This video tutorial explores how we can transform a portrait using some of the tools in Camera Raw CS4. We then look at importing the image as a Smart Object into Photoshop. In Photoshop we further enhance the skin tone, adjust the eye lashes and finish off with a lighting effect.

Dark Toned Portrait – This is a technique that has become increasingly popular. In this in-depth video we explore how we can transform a portrait taken in daylight into a far more dramatic looking image

In this video we look at creating a High Key effect while keeping subtle colours. We also look at enhancing the eyes making them main focal point of the image. The image is kept fully adjustable by the use of Blend Modes, Adjustment Layers and Masks making it easy for you to make any adjustment if required
