Drawing effect in Photoshop

In this video we look at transforming a snapshot into a Drawing effect with a touch of colour. Using Photoshop’s layers, blend modes and filters we first look at producing a sketch effect before exploring other effects that can be achieved using this technique.

Snapseed from Nik

It has to be my favourite imaging app on the iPad and now it’s also available from the App Store, Snapseed from Nik plugins. At is at this stage only available for Mac and iOS but will be coming to Android soon

In this video we take a quick look at how some of the Basic and Creative Adjustments setting can be used to enhance the look and feel of the image.

It is a great way to tweak and share images on your own web sites or social sites like facebook and Flickr.

Have to ask if this could be the future image editing? Similar tools can be found in both ACR and Lightroom for image adjustments but Snapseed and Nik seem to take it one step further, what do you think?

Smart Filters and Pixel Bender

I don’t usually take candid shots but just couldn’t resist this one, it seemed to sum up a typical British Summer holiday. It never was going to be a great photo but with a bit of help from filters such as Pixel Bender we can transform this grab shot into to something with a more painterly feel.

Adding a Watermark, Copyright or Signature

In this video we take a look at how we can add a Watermark, Copyright or Signature to our images using the Type tool and save it as a brush. This will make it quicker and easier for us to use again as not only we cannot only adjust the size, colour and transparence of the brush but we can add layer styles such as drop shadows and bevel. It’s a great way to protect or promote your images

This can be used in all version of Photoshop

The picture that we had used for the Rain effect video had been sitting in my ‘Working’ folder for sometime as I felt there was a little more we could get out of it. In this video we take a look at how removing a distracting colour along with non-destructive dodging/ burning and painting in colour can help to transform this image further.

Falling snow effect Elements

In this video we take a look at how we can create a falling snow effect in Photoshop Elements. We will be using two different methods, the first makes for distant falling snow while the second works best for closer snow. Every layer is completely adjustable when saved as a .psd file
